chris hyslop food and drink highly commended awardThe evening of Thursday 2nd February brought the Lincolnshire food and drink awards to Lincoln, which we were luckily enough to be invited too as Fine Food 2u were short listed to win an award.

So on a chilly evening we arrived at the Double tree Hilton on the Brayford in Lincoln. I must say as we were walking down it cut an impressive addition to the waterfront and as it has only been open a month this was our first visit.

We were warmly greeted by a member of staff” Verity” who we knew, so after a chat she directed us up to the suite where the awards were to take place.

The bar and function room were at the back of hotel with good views.

We mingled with a few other guests, pre dinner as little mini Lincolnshire sausages were being passed round by waiting staff.

We then proceeded to our tables and chatted with other guests on our table from different establishments and businesses around Lincolnshire. The evening then kicked off with a delicious 3 course meal which included Cote Hill blue cheese and Lincoln Red beef. Each course was accompanied by carefully selected wines. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.

After the meal the awards started and we were delighted when our name was called out to except an award For HIGHLY COMMENDED in the caterers and venue section.

So we left feeling happy and enjoyed a lovely night at a great venue. It also reinstated that Lincolnshire is blessed with fantastic local produce and a growing number of suppliers and producers

Leaving down a glass lift we again enjoyed views over the waterfront and beyond.
