Even if it doesn't feel like it, spring is almost here. March brings with it fresher flavours and the promise of new produce on our plates. Splash out with pale pink-hued wild salmon, and serve it with slender, purple-sprouting broccoli. Herbs - parsley and chives are back with us too. And, for nature-lovers, it's a great time to gather whiffy garlic leaves - the garden's waking up...

March Seasonal Foods

Spring has sprung! Crisp radishes, spring onions and wild salmon grace our plates but this is the last month to enjoy seasonal leeks, mussels, rabbit, parsnips and sprouts.

Here are a few simple Ideas to use some of our lovely local seasonal foods

Serve this broccoli with lemon recipe as a side dish for a Sunday roast, or with fish such as salmon.


  1. 500g purple sprouting broccoli, trimmed
  2. 50g butter
  3. Finely grated zest and juice of ½ lemon


  1. Steam the broccoli for 5 minutes over a pan of simmering water, until just tender.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan with the lemon zest and juice and salt and pepper. Spoon the lemon butter over the broccoli to serve.
